WHAT 97503 COVERS
ZIP Code 97503 — Two Very Different Communities
What areas are included in the 97503 zip code? 97503 is the most internally contrasting zip code in Jackson County. It stretches from White City — a dense, highway-oriented community with the highest rental density in the county — west to Jacksonville, one of the oldest continuously occupied towns in the Oregon Territory, designated a National Historic Landmark in 1966. The two communities are separated by less than 10 miles but represent completely different carpet cleaning challenges and customer profiles.
White City (97503 East)
High-density workforce housing, post-Almeda rebuild rental units, and the Highway 62 commercial corridor. The highest move-out documentation demand in any 97503 area. New construction from the Almeda rebuild (2021–2024) in the rental market.
→ White City Dedicated PageJacksonville (97503 West)
National Historic Landmark district. Homes from the 1850s through the 1920s. Original hardwood, plank floors, historic wool and antique rugs. The oldest housing stock we clean in the county — and the most delicate fiber work we do.

The 2020 Almeda Fire — What It Means for 97503 Carpet Cleaning Today
How does the Almeda Fire still affect carpet cleaning in 97503? White City absorbed significant Almeda evacuee and rebuild population from 2020 onward. The rental market saw rapid new construction and conversion of existing stock to house displaced families from Phoenix and Talent. Many of these units — completed between 2021 and 2024 — have never received professional carpet cleaning since installation. Construction particulate (drywall dust, concrete compounds, adhesive residue from flooring installation) in new carpet is a specific issue we address differently from standard residential soil.
Jacksonville’s historic homes — many without the sealed construction of modern builds — experienced significant wildfire smoke infiltration during the 2020 Almeda event and subsequent annual smoke seasons. Antique wool rugs and original carpet in Jacksonville’s historic homes absorbed PM2.5 from one of the most severe smoke events in Oregon’s recent history. We have experience with both standard smoke treatment and wool-safe smoke treatment protocols for Jacksonville’s historic fiber.

Post-Almeda Rebuild New Construction Carpet
White City’s 2021–2024 rebuild housing stock includes hundreds of new carpet installations never professionally cleaned. Construction particulate deposits in the pile during finish work and remains until professional extraction removes it — new carpet isn’t always clean carpet.
Historic Fiber & Antique Rug Protocols in Jacksonville
Jacksonville’s National Historic Landmark designation means a meaningful share of its housing stock dates 1850s–1920s. Original plank floors, wool and silk antique rugs, and period-era carpet require fiber ID, dye transfer testing, pH-neutral chemistry, and lower extraction temperatures.

97503 Job — Jacksonville Historic Home, Almeda Smoke + Antique Wool Rug
The Situation
A Jacksonville homeowner on California Street (a historic district residential street dating from the 1880s) contacted us in April 2025 for post-smoke-season cleaning. The home had original carpet in two rooms and a large antique Turkish wool rug in the parlor. The 2020 Almeda smoke event, plus subsequent annual smoke seasons, had accumulated. The homeowner had avoided professional cleaning out of concern for the antique rug.
What We Did
Fiber testing: contemporary carpet was mid-grade nylon over original hardwood. Antique Turkish rug: hand-knotted wool, dye-transfer tested — all dyes colorfast, no backing deterioration. Rug: pH-neutral pre-spray at pH 6.8, 6-minute dwell, 140°F extraction (wool-safe), neutral rinse, flat dry, manual pile grooming. Contemporary carpet: oxidizing pre-spray for Almeda-era smoke, extended 10-minute dwell, 195°F HWE, pH-balanced rinse, carpet rake.
The Result
Antique rug: colors brightened, smoke odor eliminated, no dye transfer, no shrinkage. Contemporary carpet: smoke odor resolved at the 48-hour check. The homeowner had been told by a national chain the antique rug “couldn’t be safely cleaned” — it could. Fiber testing and appropriate chemistry is the correct approach.
